In 1959, the Cairns Amateurs Racing Carnival began as a small race meeting to bring together city and country. Today, it's one of Australia's premier Spring horse racing carnivals. The Amateurs, as it is affectionately known, has something for everyone - horse racing, fashion, socialising, celebrities - all under the tropical skies of Far North Queensland.
